Five duck hunters and their dog were tossed into the waters off Prouts Neck on Thursday morning when a small skiff overturned, the Scarborough Fire Department said.

The small boat capsized shortly before 8 a.m., and came to rest upside down on the rocks, said Deputy Fire Chief Gary Sandler.

The hunters and the dog were able to scramble up the rocks and walked to safety on shore before resucers arrived, Sandler said. No one was hurt.

The hunters were wearing protective waterproof clothing, Sandler said, and only one complained of being cold following the incident. No one was transported to any hospitals, Sandler said.

The boat’s owner is expected to work with the town harbor master in the coming days to retrieve his skiff.
