Portland police were investigating an unattended death late Sunday night in downtown Portland that appears to be drug-related.
Lt. Robert Martin, the police department spokesman, said in an email that the person’s death does not appear to be suspicious.
He identified the victim as a 26-year-old man.
“Believed to be drug related but the (state) Medical Examiner will have to determine the cause and manner of death,” Martin said.
The Portland Police Department’s crime scene unit taped off the area on Congress Street where the man’s body was discovered.
Lt. Jason King said the body was discovered in The Metropolitan, an apartment building at 439 Congress St.
