LEWISTON — Police said an infant was found dead Wednesday at a local apartment.
The body of the 6-month-old boy was taken Wednesday from his 27 Marston St. home to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for autopsy.
Emergency crews responded to a medical call at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday for cardiac arrest, Lt. David St. Pierre said Thursday.
Although the death does not appear to be suspicious, St. Pierre said standard protocol requires Maine State Police to investigate all deaths of anyone younger than 3 years old and for an autopsy to be ordered.
Lewiston police are assisting in the investigation.
“It’s obviously an untimely death,” he said.
