Portland police said the occupants of a car that slammed into a utility pole and caught fire Sunday evening near Payson Park were not injured.

In a post on Twitter, police said the vehicle ran into a utility pole in the vicinity of 546 Ocean Ave., near its intersection with Washington Avenue, around 6:20 p.m.

Photographs of the crash that were posted on Twitter show city firefighters putting out the fire. Both occupants got out safely.
