Elizabeth Hunter and Melissa Shea, fiber artists, will be featured in an exhibit May 24-June 26 at The RFA and the Lakeside Contemporary Art Gallery, 2493 Main St. in Rangeley. An artist’s reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24.
Hunter’s asymmetrical, one-of-a-kind rugs are often likened to abstract landscapes. She incorporates the traditional elements of Nordic design into her technically expert, finely crafted rugs. Hunter also will exhibit pillows in this show.
Inspired by her conservationist ideals, Shea’s baskets are original designs using organic materials and found objects. Repurposed to represent her vision of form meeting function, these works are skillful and elegant in their execution. Shea will be exhibiting a variety of her unique baskets.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
