A team of net fishermen recently donned wet suits and plunged into Craigan Brook on Middle Road in Fairfield to scoop up sucker fish to sell to lobstermen for bait. Brandon Simmons, Mike Libby and Brenden Cowen use a catch net to corral the fish and a hauling net to get them ashore, where the men can crate them for shipment. The final step in the process is to push the load up the hill with the help of a mechanical winch. Hard work, cold water and ugly fish come together to provide bait, ultimately to catch a sweet lobster.
