Portland police have identified the Saco woman who died Saturday evening after her ATV hit a tree in the North Deering neighborhood.
Shelby Peters, 26, of Saco died at Maine Medical Center as the result of injuries she suffered in the crash, Lt. Robert Martin said in a statement Sunday evening.
According to police, Peters was operating an ATV around 10 p.m. when it crashed into a tree at the intersection of Summit Street and Curtis Road. No other vehicles or riders were involved.
Martin said that the accident remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Portland police at 874-8532 or 874-8575.
