JAY — Five Spruce Mountain High School graduating seniors were awarded scholarships of $500 each from OTIS Federal Credit Union during the school’s Senior Awards Night on June 6. The recipients included Morgan Dalton, Lauren Cornelio, Rylee Saunders, Hailee Perkins and Jordan Daigle. The scholarship recipients submitted brief essays along with a completed scholarship application, a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor, and a copy of a letter of acceptance from a college, university or technical school.
Scholarships were awarded by Darice Dubreuil, vice president of Lending; and Donna Labbe and Gary Desjardins, who serve on the OTIS Board of Directors.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants were required to be a primary member of the credit union, to be a graduating high school senior, to have been accepted to a post-secondary school, and to begin their higher education within one year of completing high school.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
