AUGUSTA — An Open Mic Night will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Lithgow Public Library, 45 Winthrop St.
Sign-ups for mic slots will start at 5:45 p.m., spoken word performances will be allowed for five minutes; musical performances will be allowed two songs or eight minutes, whichever comes first. Time slots will be given in the order in which they appear on the sign-up sheet, with the final performance starting at 7:40 p.m..
This free event may have strong language and mature content, because of the unpredictable nature of community performances. While all ages are welcome to watch and/or participate, parental discretion is advised.
If the library is closed because of inclement weather, the snow date for this event will be Feb. 11.
Stay tuned for details for the upcoming April Open Mic Poetry Night. If you or your organization would like to be a featured poet at the poetry night, contact Julie Olsen.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
