Snow Pond Center for the Arts will hold an ice fishing derby and winter carnival on Saturday, Feb. 23, in Sidney, according to a news release from the center.
Community events will include the ice fishing derby on all Belgrade Lakes waters. Weigh-in will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. at Snow Pond Center for the Arts Lodge, 8 Goldenrod Lane. Prizes will include a Jiffy 10-inch auger, a pair of Maine Guide snowshoes, many gift cards and a chance to win a 2019 snowmobile provided by Kramers Inc., and more.
The winter carnival is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Events include Fat Biking, courtesy of Mathieu’s Cycle & Fitness, snowshoeing on the new Snow Pond Community Trails, ice skating, sledding, crafts and more.
“Creating events that bring people together is at the heart of what Snow Pond Center for the Arts is all about. Snow Pond has become a center that supports community-wide health and wellbeing,” said Christa Johnson, director of development, according to the release. “This fishing derby and dinner is just one of our many events that brings our families, neighbors and visitors together to celebrate this incredible place we call home.”
The evening will end with a community fish fry and pasta bar dinner in the lodge, cost is $5 per person.
