Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers will celebrate Children’s Book Week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at at 193 Broadway, Farmington.
This is the 100th anniversary of Children’s Book Week, an annual celebration of children’s books and reading.
The program is administered by Every Child a Reader and the Children’s Book Council is the anchor sponsor. There will be prizes, giveaways and fun literacy activities for all, according to a news release from DDG Booksellers.
Activities include: Read Aloud By A Farmington Firefighter at 10:15 a.m. A Firefighter from the Farmington Fire Department will swing by the store, to share some book on firefighting. Community Literacy All-stars is set for 11 a.m. Franklin County’s own Community Literacy All-stars will drop by to read their favorite picture books. Book Activity Hour will begin at 1 p.m. with reading activities with Potato Pants and other store favorites. This includes a read-aloud of the book, and assembling Potato Pants paper dolls.
