AUBURN — One man was killed and another injured Friday afternoon when a motorcycle and pickup truck collided at Perkins Ridge and Garfield roads.
The first rescuers at the scene about 4:30 p.m. performed CPR on the motorcyclist, but it was reported a short time later that he had died.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a Lewiston hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police later Friday were not releasing the names of those involved while their investigation continues. The motorcyclist who died lives in the area, police said.
The motorcyclist had been heading east on Garfield Road, police said.
“Although this crash remains under investigation, witnesses reported to police that the operator of the pickup truck failed to yield the right of way after stopping at a stop sign,” according to a news release from Auburn police Deputy Chief Tim Cougle. “Speed does not appear to be a factor.”
Police shut down sections of the roads around the site as they reconstructed the crash with help from the Lewiston Police Department.
