FARMINGTON — A fire Saturday night caused severe damage to a single-family house in Farmington.
The blaze at 183 Box Shop Hill Road, off of Routes 27 and 4, was reported at about 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived, flames could be seen from the back of the second floor of the 1½-floor, wooden structure.
Farmington Fire Chief Terry Bell said it took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control.
The four people in the home and several pets all got out safely, Bell said. There were no injuries.
Bell said the house’s residents stayed with family members Saturday night.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Sunday.
Firefighters from Chesterville, Jay, New Sharon, Strong, Temple and Wilton helped fight the fire.
