READFIELD — Cash McClure scored 29 points as the Maranacook boys basketball team jumped out to a big lead, and then held on for a 76-71 victory over Leavitt on Wednesday.
Tim Worster had 15 and Casey Cormier scored 11 for the Black Bears (8-0), who beat the Hornets 70-52 on Friday. Maranacook was up by 25 in the third quarter, but had to withstand a late Leavitt rally.
Wyatt Hathaway scored 26 for Leavitt. Joziah Learned had 18 points and Ian Redstone scored nine.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 60, RICHMOND 36: Angel Huntsman scored 27 points to power the Panthers (2-0) past the Bobcats (0-2) at Yarmouth.
Erin Reid had eight points, and Madilyn Onorato chipped in with seven as NYA led 27-9 at the half.
Sophia Wells scored nine points for Richmond.
GARDINER 50, CONY 48: Lizzy Gruber scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a victory over the Rams in Gardiner.
Kassidy Collins scored five points and had 15. rebounds for Gardiner, while Savannah Brown added nine points.
Julia Reny led Cony with 19 points, while Reilley Fleck added 14 points.
