The Lewiston and Oakland police departments are searching for 15-year-old Lanie Nolan, an Oakland native who is a resident at New Beginnings in Lewiston.

Nolan was last seen on March 18 at approximately 2:30 p.m. when she said she was “going on a walk,” police said. New Beginnings, which serves homeless and runaway youth, contacted police at 4 p.m. when she did not return.
Police say Nolan may have left the area “willingly” with a 23-year-old male whom she had been in contact with through social media. Police say the man, of Vacaville, California, may have picked up Nolan driving a blue 2001 Ford Mustang with California license plate 5LQL188.
Nolan is described as 5 feet, 4 inches and 180 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt, gray pants, sneakers and eyeglasses, police say.
Police ask anyone with information to call the Lewiston Police Department at 207-784-6421 or Detective Joey Brown at 207-513-3001, extension 3322.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
