A single-car accident damaged the front porch of a house, a Maine Department of Transportation sign and a Central Maine Power pole early Tuesday morning, the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Wednesday.
Austin Brown, 25, of Augusta was driving westbound toward Smithfield Road when he continued straight on the curved Oakland Road and struck the sign, pole and porch before his 2011 Kia Soul came to rest on a tree at approximately 3:37 a.m. Tuesday. There was dense fog at the time of the accident.
Erin Hall, 31, of Belgrade was a passenger in the car. There were no injuries reported.
The house was partially damaged. The car was totaled. The cause of the accident is believed to be the fog, according to Lt. Chris Read of the sheriff’s office.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
