Monmouth Academy has selected junior Ethan Handley as its January Student of the Month.
Handley is an inquisitive and engaged student who has participated in wrestling and an internship with Rep. Kent Ackley, according to a news release from the school.
In presenting this award, Mrs. Morgan Huckey, Monmouth Academy Jobs for Maine Grads teacher, remarked, “Ethan is one of a kind. He is a leader in the classroom and brings some fun every day in class. Ethan is one I know I can rely on to have thoughtful, productive, and creative innovation and then also put a smile on my face with his puns and clever wit,” according to the release.
Handley is the son of Michelle Handley and David Handley.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
