Monmouth Academy has named senior Alicen Burnham as its February Student of the Month.
Burnham is a member of the Monmouth Academy Student Government, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, and the varsity soccer, cheerleading and track and field teams.
In presenting this award, Dr. Elizabeth Ross, Monmouth Academy math teacher, remarked, “Alicen is an extremely hard worker who is supportive of friends and teammates. She is a great leader and shows this everyday in her classes and extracurricular activities. As a co-editor of the 2021 yearbook, she has had her work cut out for her in this crazy year. She’s kept up with the task all while maintaining a high GPA, captain roles on both of her teams, and leadership positions in her many clubs,” according to a news release from the academy.
Burnham is the daughter of Leanne Burnham and Darin Burnham.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
