POLAND — A man was killed in a Saturday morning fire, according to Shannon Moss, public information officer of the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Moss said that police received a call at 7:45 a.m. Saturday about a fire at 172 Tiger Hill Road in Poland.
Fire departments from Poland, Oxford and Mechanic Falls responded to the fire and quickly knocked it down.
After the fire was extinguished, Moss said that emergency responders found a deceased, adult male inside.
Moss said that the man is believed to be Michael Murphy, 65, who lived at the house.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, according to Moss, and the investigation will be continued over the weekend by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta where an autopsy is to be completed Sunday.
No further information was available Saturday evening.

It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
