Turner Sports is the surprise winner of the National Hockey League’s second television package.

The two sides have agreed on a seven-year contract that includes three Stanley Cup finals, two people familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. The people spoke on condition of anonymity Monday because the contract had not been finalized.

Turner Sports and the NHL had no immediate comment on the deal, which was first reported by Sports Business Journal.

The agreement with Turner will give the NHL two network partners in the United States for the first time since 1998-99. The league reached agreement with Walt Disney Corp. last month that includes four Stanley Cup Finals, 25 regular-season games on ESPN and ABC, the NHL All-Star game and comprehensive streaming rights.

The NHL received $350 million in broadcast revenue from NBC ($250 million) and Disney Streaming Services ($100 million for digital rights) this season. The upcoming deals will average $635 million per year ($410 million from Disney and $225 million from Turner).

JETS: Ccoach Paul Maurice says forward Nikolaj Ehlers is out for the remainder of the regular season with an upper-body injury.

Maurice said Ehlers suffered the injury in the Jets’ 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Saturday.

The Winnipeg coach said he couldn’t tell exactly when Ehlers was hurt as he was involved in a number of hits during the game. Ehlers did go to the Jets’ locker room after a third-period collision with Leafs defenseman Jake Muzzin, but he returned to finish the game.

BLACKHAWKS: Andrew Shaw was the scrappy “mutt” on a star-studded team, a gritty fan favorite who helped the Chicago Blackhawks win two Stanley Cups. Now, he is calling it a career.

Shaw announced his retirement Monday on the advice of doctors after multiple concussions over the course of his career.

The forward from Belleville, Ontario, played 10 seasons in the NHL, seven with Chicago sandwiched around three with Montreal. In all, the fifth-round draft pick in 2011 piled up 116 goals, 131 assists and 573 penalty minutes as he brought a grinding, pesky presence to the front line. The stats he was likely most proud of: A career plus-24 and 14 game-winning goals.

FLAMES: Calgary defenseman Noah Hanifin will need season-ending shoulder surgery.

The 24-year-old was injured early in the first period of Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Hanifin was tangling with Canadiens forward Corey Perry along the boards near the Flames bench when his left leg went out from underneath him. Hanifin’s shoulder made contact with the ice as he went down.

STARS 4, HURRICANES 3 (OT): Jamie Benn scored the overtime winner for the second straight game and assisted on Dallas’ three regulation goals as the Stars beat visiting Carolina.

Benn scored on a pass from Jason Robertson at 2:44 of overtime. He scored 32 seconds into overtime Saturday to beat Detroit 2-1. Joe Pavelski, Jason Dickinson and Denis Gurianov also scored for the Stars, who have earned points in 10 of their last 11 games (8-1-2). Jake Oettinger made 29 saves.

CANADIENS 2, FLAMES 1: Tyler Toffoli’s goal in the second period lifted Montreal over visiting Calgary.

Toffoli scored his fourth goal in as many games and his team-leading 25th of the season. Shea Weber also scored for the Canadiens. Jake Allen made 21 saves for the win.

Montreal opened a six-point gap on Calgary, which is chasing the Canadiens for the fourth and final playoff berth in the North Division.

SENATORS 2, CANUCKS 1: Drake Batherson scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the second period and the Ottawa won at home over Vancouver.

Josh Norris also scored for the Senators, and Brady Tkachuk had two assists. Olli Juolevi scored for the Canucks, temporarily drawing Vancouver even with a long blast 14:07 into the first period.

Ottawa’s Marc Hogberg stopped 25 of 26 shots for his third win of the season. Braden Holtby had 25 saves for Vancouver.

BLUES 4, AVALANCHE 1: David Perron had a goal and two assists as St. Louis beat visiting Colorado.

Vladimir Tarasenko, Brayden Schenn, and Robert Thomas also scored, and Jordan Binnington made 30 saves as St. Louis won its second straight game against the Avalanche. Colorado won the season series 5-3.

Nathan MacKinnon scored for Colorado, and Jonas Johansson had 16 saves. The Avalanche remain four points behind West Division-leading Vegas. Colorado has played one fewer game.
