William H. Hamlin

FARMINGDALE – William H. Hamlin, 80, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 24,2021 in his home in Farmingdale. He was born May 9, 1940 in Augusta, the son of Charles and Albertine Morin Hamlin.William was a loving father, husband, brother and Grampy. Dad was a generous, kind, funny, giving happy soul that could always make you laugh and see the good in everyone. He worked retail during his career, making friends with everyone he came in contact with. Dad was the type of man that when he saw someone in need, he made sure whatever the need was, that the need was met.Dad enjoyed eating out, spending time with his children and grandchildren, shopping, and gathering for Friday night suppers; he loved to dance.We would like to thank Beacon Hospice, Nathan Harmon, M.D., and Captain Lewis Residence Staff for their loving care and compassion during his journey. In addition, we give a very special thank you to his “Angel” Katherine Pushee form from Beacon Hospice; she was not just a nurse, she was a friend.He was predeceased by his mother, Albertine Hamlin and father, Charlie Hamlin.Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Clough) Hamlin, two children, Kim Dolley and her husband David and Trevor Hamlin and his wife Erika, four grandchildren, Jacob and Samuel Dolley, Gabrielle and Beckett Hamlin, and great-grandson, Brody Dyer Dolley, sister, Susan Kidder and her husband Bernard Kidder, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1 p.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner, following CDC and State of Maine COVID guidelines.Following the service there will be an informal gathering at Sharon’s home.Arrangements are by Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where Condolences, Memories and Photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website familyfirstfuneralhomes.com
