WATERVILLE — City offices are closed until Monday morning due to potential COVID-19 exposure, according to the city’s Facebook page.

The post came at noon Thursday afternoon with a single sentence, “Out of an abundance of caution City Hall will be closed due to a potential exposure to COVID-19.”

City offices plan to reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 10. The closure comes as the state reported 318 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths Thursday. Of the new cases, 71% were in people younger than age 40 and 44% of those cases were in people in their 20s.

Maine has had 63,175 cases of COVID-19 and 793 deaths since the pandemic began, with Kennebec County accounting for 5,880 cases and 158 deaths.
