PITTSFIELD — Maine Central Institute signed a memorandum of understanding on May 6 with Taipei Municipal Zhong Zheng Senior High School to host teachers and students from the Taiwanese school at MCI’s Bossov Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive Camp in the summer of 2022.
The partnership invites students from Taipei Zhong Zheng to join the camp and take online courses through MCI as work toward a dual diploma, one from MCI and one from Zhong Zheng, upon successful completion of the camp and courses.
“We hope to have many dancers attend summer intensive in 2022 and hopefully, full year enrollments will follow,” said Christopher M. McDonald, MCI’s Head of School, according to a news release from the institute.
Taipei Zhong Zheng, located in the Beitou District of Taipei City, is a senior high school that excels in visual and performing arts, including ballet. The school focuses on promoting international education and incorporating global dimensions into the curriculum.
Bossov Ballet Artistic Director Natalya Getman and dancers Noah Speed and Annabel Street were on hand to sign a symbolic pair of ballet shoes at a virtual ceremony that included more than 50 guests from Taiwan.
