WINTHROP — The Bailey Library plans to resume in-person events with a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at 39 Bowdoin St.
The event, which features guest speaker Dawn McAndrews, is the fifth part of a yearlong series celebrating Maine women that will run through 2021.
McAndrews is the producing artistic director at the Theater at Monmouth, and will give a presentation that focuses on her time there and a look back at her path to where she is now. The Theater at Monmouth, founded in 1970, is a year-round repertory company of professional artists from across the United States. Performances are held in Cumston Hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings since 1976.
McAndrews joined the Theater at Monmouth full time in 2011. She has worked as a director, producer and educator at theaters across the country, including Shakespeare Theatre Company, Steppenwolf Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Arena Stage, and Portland Stage Company.
McAndrews grew up in Larchmont, New York, and studied performance at State University New York in Fredonia, before completing her Master of Fine Arts at Western Illinois University. She lives with her husband Jim in Harpswell.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
