Charles E. Spearrin Jr.

SOLON – Charles E. Spearrin Jr., 76, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2021 at his home in Solon.

Charlie was born on Sept. 26, 1944 in Bingham, the son of Charles Sr. and Doris Spearrin.

“The Legend Charlie, Chuck, Charles” grew up with a passion for sports and was an avid outdoorsman. He served his country for 10 years in the Army Reserve as an MP and had a storied career for over 58 years as a lumber salesman selling building materials to contractors and homeowners. He would take phone calls at all hours, day or night, often answering with a patented Charlie-ism. Always with a ready pen, a simple trip to the transfer station on Sunday would often result in hours long conversation and an order for a house frame on Monday morning.

Charlies accomplished career spanned nearly six decades earning the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him from fellow employees, vendors, customers, and company ownership.

Charlie also had incredible artistic ability, whether it was his personalized, hand drawn architectural blueprints done for building clients that always seemed to include a deer, moose, bird, jumping fish, maybe an axe buried in a stump or his more recent beautiful wood burnings depicting wildlife.

As a truly dedicated outdoorsman the deer, the fish and the partridge were his passion. Charlie loved fishing every chance he got and in recent years became addicted to bass fishing on the many water bodies in and around his winter home in Lake Alfred, Florida. Forever looking for “Walter” in Charlie’s words: “many were caught, and many were lost, and the little ones weren’t tossed”. He was also an avid deer and bird hunter. Charlie enjoyed exceptional success due to his love and dedication to the outdoors and nature. He was always willing to share his many stories, wisdom, and “numbers” especially with youth and other sportsmen.

Charlie is predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Diane Bigelow.

He is survived by the love of his life, Tammy Spearrin, and their special daughter Sage; his children Chris, Scott and John Spearrin; and grandchildren; his stepson, Ryan Rankin; his niece, Mary Lou; and great-niece Jamie; and of course all of the countless, very special, close “personal” friends.
