Lona A. Leathers

HARTLAND – Lona A. Leathers, daughter of the late Wesley and Gladys (Frost) Clark – 102 years young, left this earth on June 18, 2021 to join her late husband, Lloyd C. Leathers in the waiting arms of our Dear Lord and Savior. Her son, Larry Leathers (the apple of her eye) and his wife Julia were by her side.

Lona worked at the Baxter’s Cannery in Hartland for many years and retired from Edwards Manufacturing in Pittsfield.

This matriarch was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years of marriage. Lloyd and Lona spent many weekends in their early years roller-skating at the Blue Moon in Hartland. They had a camper and also owned a cottage of which the family enjoyed immensely and created many family memories.

They would grow cherry tomatoes and raise night crawlers among several other side jobs to build a foundation for their future and family. They used to go moped riding with Jean and LeRoy Rollins and loved to play cards and shared many happy memories with them, as well as Rodney and Beverly Chute (cousins).

She was honorably known for her exquisite cross-stitch and crocheting talents. Lovingly known as Nanny, she passed along cooking and crafting knowledge to her grandchildren.

Her family will miss her greatly but knows one day they will all be reunited with a “bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck”.

Lona is survived by her son, Larry Leathers and wife Julia; grandchildren Dixie Lafo and husband Steven “T”, Cindy Huard and husband Rene, Peggy Albert and husband David, Daniel Leathers and partner Betsy; great-grandchildren Steven, Amber, Ashleyann, Kimberly, Tyler, Douglas, Julia; and great-great-grandchildren Cameron, Andrew, Matthew, Amelia and Elizabeth.

Graveside committal services will be held on Saturday, July 17, at 2 p.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland, with Pastor Leonard Reiss officiating. Those who wish, may leave written condolences at http://www.CrosbyNeal.com
