Tracey Lynn Allen

AUGUSTA – Tracey Lynn Allen, 52, of Rockland and Augusta, unexpectedly joined her mother, Bonnie Daniello, father, James Thomas Sr. and brother, James “Jimmy” Thomas Jr. in the next life on July 1, 2021. Her final moments were spent with her daughters, Courtney and Casey Allen, at her side.

Many will remember Tracey for her open door and open heart policy. She took in many of her children’s friends and all of the neighborhood “strays”, as she fondly called them. Tracey offered unconditional love, a cup of coffee, a hot meal, and a non-judgmental ear to anyone who needed it.

Growing up in Rockland, Maine, Tracey spent her early years helping to take care of her siblings, Teresa, Lisa, and Jimmy Thomas, while her mother was working in the sardine factories.

Tracey was very intelligent and participated in gifted and talented programs throughout her education. She graduated from Rockland District High School, married her high school sweetheart, and traveled the country as an Army wife for many years. After having her daughters, Tracey dedicated her life to raising her children. Tracey and her daughters returned to Maine in the early 2000s, settling first in her hometown and then moving to Augusta. Tracey spent fifteen years making a home in Augusta and helping to raise her grandchildren – Wyatt, Aimin, Everett, and Bella.

Tracey enjoyed playing cribbage, spades, and thirty-one. Tracey’s mother taught her to play at a young age and Tracey passed the tradition down to her siblings, daughters, grandchildren, and many of her “strays”.

Tracey also had a passion for the democratic process, beginning in junior high when she successfully invited Governor Brennan to speak to her civics class, and later in her unwavering support of Courtney’s campaign for the Augusta City Council.

Tracey was most proud of the accomplishments of her daughters and grandchildren. Most recently, Casey was promoted to management and received recognition for 6 years of service at her job. Courtney helped to advocate for legislation that will bring more resources in response to the addiction crisis. Wyatt is doing well in school. Aimin learned to play spades. Everett caught a fish at camp. Bella started kindergarten. All of these accomplishments, big and small, are what gave Tracey her greatest joy.

It is in the spirit of Tracey’s open door and open heart that her family asks everyone to join them in her celebration of life on July 17, 2021 at Central Church, 20 Mission Ave, Augusta, Maine. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. for coffee, visitation, and sweets. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Following the service at 1:00 p.m., Tracey will be laid to rest with her mother, father, and brother at Acorn Cemetery, 282 Marsh Ave, Rockland, Maine. All are welcome at both or either service.

Tracey is survived by her sisters, Teresa Thomas of Rockland and Lisa Thomas of Valrico, Fla.; daughters Cassandra Allen of Arab, Ala. and Courtney Allen of Augusta; grandchildren Wyatt and Aimin Dow of Augusta, Everett and Isabella Rogers, both of Arab, Ala.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
