Doris Arlene Cormier Giroux

WATERVILLE – Our wife and mother, Doris Arlene Cormier Giroux, passed into heaven on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

She was born on June 15, 1937, the tenth of 11 children to Aldrich and Marion Libby Cormier. She was the last surviving sibling. She has two sisters-in-law, dozens of nieces and nephews, dozens of great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Waterville High School in 1955 where she was an active FHA member and secretary and a member of the Art Club. She was employed at CF Hathaway as a stitcher. She stepped in to coach the Winslow High School cheerleaders in the 1980s. Doris spent most of her life as a homemaker who loved her gardening, knitting, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and her soap operas.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Giroux, who she married in April of 1956.

She is survived by her children Karen and her spouse, Gerry Rancourt and Timothy and his spouse, Paul Anctil. She and Norman have four grandchildren, Jill and her husband, Jeff Merckens, John Rancourt, Todd Rancourt and his wife, Jenn, and Ryan Rancourt and his wife, Megan and her two sons. She is also survived by her four beloved great-grandchildren, Rylee, Bridgette, Alex, and Todd Jr.

Our family would like to thank the 24/7 team of girls who took care of our parents at home before Doris spent her last years at Lakewood Continuing Care in Waterville. The family would like to thank the caregivers there and the physicians of Northern Light for taking care of her. She spoke fondly of Cindy, Bonnie, Ziggy, Courtney, Jeremiah, Katrina, Brian and many others. Support was also given by Beacon Hospice for which the family is grateful. Their many staff members, volunteers, and ministers provided comfort and care.

Visitation with the family will take place at Veilleux and Redington Funeral Home, 8 Elm St, Waterville, ME 04901 on Wednesday, July 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St John Church, 26 Monument St, Winslow, ME 04901 on Thursday, July 15 at 10 a.m. Private committal services to follow at a later date.
