Irene Dawn (Burleigh) Catudal

PORTLAND – Irene Dawn (Burleigh) Catudal, 79 passed away on July 6, 2021 in Portland Maine. She was born on Oct. 14, 1941 to Agnes and Howard Burleigh in Skowhegan.

Irene married Bobby Nelson in the summer of 1969 and the couple spent the majority of their time surrounded by family in Bangor. Bobby passed away in June 1994. In 2001 she married Robert Catudal and the two enjoyed traveling together until Robert passed away in 2016.

Irene loved life, but above all, she loved her family. Our beloved Mimi enjoyed the excitement of Casino’s and would never miss family game night. She will be immensely missed.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Trial (Peter) and brother, David Burleigh.

She is survived by her sisters Phyllis Lapointe (Paul) and Bonnie Judkins (Ralph); her three children, Arlene Weaver (Pete), Preston Judkins, Linda Hernandez (Francisco); her six grandchildren, Amy, Brian, Rebecca, Veronica, Gabriela, and Paco; and six great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Colby, Quinn, Ella, Kayden, and KJ. In addition, she gained bonus children, Suzanne, Claude, Robert, and Lolay Catudal; grandchildren and great-grandchildren from her late husband Robert. She will be remembered by many family and friends.

On July 22 at 1 p.m. there will be a graveside memorial for Irene in Skowhegan at the Skowhegan East Cemetery on Oak Pond Road. On July 23 at 11 a.m. there will be an additional service in Bangor at Mt Hope Cemetery.
