Mary R. “Bunny” Brown

WINSLOW – Mary R. “Bunny” Brown, 82, of Winslow passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Rehab Care Center-Glenridge, Augusta. Mary was born in Winslow on April 9, 1939, a daughter of Fernando and Louise (Boulette) Roy.

She was employed by Scott Paper Company, then attended EMT training at what is now Kennebec Valley Community College. After getting her EMT certification she joined Mid-Maine Medical Center and worked as an EMT in the emergency room and Unit Secretary throughout most of the department within the hospital.

Mary had a lifelong love for music. She was a member of the Winslow High School Glee Club, Kennebec Valley Chorus, then the Colby-Kennebec Choral and the Maine Opera Theater.

Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, knitting, playing cards with her sister and friends, attending plays and theater productions. She was a member of the Notre Dame Guild and belonged to T.O.P.S for over 25 years.

Mary especially loved sports and most of all attending her grandson’s athletic events to include motorcycle racing. She loved going to the seashore and loved all her dogs, especially Frannie and Abbey.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Hubert; three brothers, Leo, Daniel, and Alan Roy, two sisters, Carol and Jane.

Mary is survived by her sister Carmen Foster and husband Preston of Benton, special daughter Johnna Bowen and husband Paul of Benton; brother-in-law Jon Pomerleau of White Plains, Fla.; three special goddaughters, Traser Pomerleau of Hawaii, Betty Mills and Elaine Harrison of Waterville; grandson, Leigh Mills; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Anna Marie, Gladys, Pauline, Lyn and Jackie McCommic of Winslow and all her Dining Diva’s.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Monument Street, Winslow.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Aable Cremation Service, Waterville.
