FAIRFIELD CENTER — Victor Grange 49 plans to host a grand opening of its new parking area and an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at 148 Oakland Road, Fairfield Center.
People can join members for a hot dog and cold drink.
Grange members plan to thank the many volunteer members of the community for their hard work and contributions.
Victor Grange was established in 1874. The members’ vision was to have a space to be used as a resource and help nurture the meaning of community. As the Grange continues to upgrade the building, members want to use it to its capacity and continue the tradition.
Members have been working on improving, repairing and updating the property so it can offer services year round and expand what they can offer.
One major project was to tear down the abandoned house next door that was donated by the town of Fairfield. In addition to using this as a parking lot, members plan to add gardens and a place to host outdoor events.
After a few small repairs and installation of ventilation fans, the grange plans to insulate its building.
