Arlene (Lessard) McCarthy
AUGUSTA – Arlene (Lessard) McCarthy, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2021, at Maine General Health due to complications resulting from an infection.
Arlene was born on July 13, 1940, in Buffalo, N.Y., to parents Edward McCarthy and Ethel Kunz. She was the third child of four siblings who she adored, Donald McCarthy, Ann Van Ocker, Carol Lempges. Over time, she made her way to the state of Maine where she ended up establishing her family home in Winslow.
Arlene was a devoted mother of five boys and many grandchildren. Her passion in life was her family. She devoted many hours watching her kids playing ice hockey, baseball, running, and football. She loved to go for walks along the beach in New Smyrna, around Back Bay cove or wooded paths in the back yard. She enjoyed taking road trips to Buffalo or Pennsylvania for family reunions.
Arlene is survived by her five sons and their families, Peter and Angela Lessard of Winslow, David and Jodie Lessard of San Diego, Calif., Mark Lessard and Christine Thomas of Fairfield, Gary and Amy Lessard of Norridgewock, and Corey and Alison Lessard of Palermo. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Nicole Ringler, Talia Cook, Amber Lessard, Amanda Lessard, Samantha Lessard, Christopher Lessard, Logan Theriault, Gavin Mills, Kaitlyn Thomas and friends she treated like one of her own Brooke Ross, Michael Warren.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Nicole Ringler, Talia Cook, Amber Lessard, Amanda Lessard, Samantha Lessard, Christopher Lessard, Felicia Lessard, Logan Theriault, Gavin Mills, Kaitlyn Thomas and friends she treated like one of her own Brooke Ross, Michael Warren.
A funeral for Arlene will be held on Saturday, August 7, at 9 a.m., at the Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Catholic Church in Waterville, Maine. Arlene had several cats over the years and cared for them all deeply.
