WEST GARDINER – Jane (Chapman) Caswell, 76, passed away Aug. 13, 2021, peacefully with her family at her side. She was born Jan. 12, 1945, to Paul and Lila (Rahkonen) Chapman of South Thomaston, Maine.
Jane enjoyed being with family, friends, and her loving dog, “Molly”, laughing and making memories. She was a very proud mother and grandmother, her most special accomplishments. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, and doing crafts to give to her many family members and friends. Jane was a very giving person, when she loved you, she loved with all her heart.
Jane worked for Laverdiere’s Drug store for many years until they sold their stores to Rite Aid, which she continued to work until she retired in 2012. She met many people in the years she worked that became her friends.
She was predeceased by her Mother Lila (Rahkonen) Chapman in 2001, Sister Pauline (Chapman) Reed in 1995, Longtime companion, Patrick Kimball in 2006, Longtime companion, Alvin Lavoie in 1994, and ex-husband, best friend, and father of her two children, Russell Caswell in 2000.
She is survived by her father, Paul Chapman of South Thomaston, sister, Jacqueline Lafferty of Thomaston, lifelong friend, Nel Donahue of Skowhegan, son, Donald Caswell and wife Sonja of West Gardiner, daughter, Diane and her husband Don of Woolwich, grandson, Anthony Caswell and wife Morgan of Augusta, granddaughter, Meghan Caswell and companion Devin Haight of Troy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Rips Cemetery on Lewiston Road, West Gardiner, Maine (near overpass on Route 126, across from Macomber Transport) on August 21, at 1 p.m.
