
Priscilla Kinch Payne
DRESDEN – Priscilla Kinch Payne, 84, died at home in Dresden on Aug. 12, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Born in Gardiner on Feb. 11, 1937, she was the daughter of Dwight and Sarah Chase Whitaker. Priscilla worked hard all of her life holding positions in accounting, medical records, payroll, and medical office management. She was a switchboard operator at Maine General Medical Center for 25 years and recently retired in April due to ill health. She was a creative and a talented seamstress, quilter, and rug maker; and loved teaching others these crafts. Sundays were often spent playing Mah-Jong with friends. She loved to travel and going out to eat. She was known for her big heart and generous spirit. She is survived by her loving children, Kathy Kinch and husband David Benham of Portland, William Kinch of Litchfield, Mary Kinch of Dresden, Michael Kinch of Livermore Falls, and Ann and husband Jeffrey Pierce of Dresden, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husbands C. William Kinch and Charles Payne, her loving partner and companion Rudy Zaninetti, and sisters, Betty Sambrook, Patricia Crossno, and Shirley Corelli. If she could, she would thank her many dear friends for loving her and being in her life. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, August 28, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Dresden.
