Warren Stetson Ladd Jr.
SCARBOROUGH – Warren Stetson Ladd Jr., 78, passed away at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, after a long illness. He was born in Gardiner, on Feb. 11, 1943. He was the son of late Warren S. Ladd Sr. (Ted) and June (Austin) Ladd. Warren lived in Gardiner most of his life, graduating from Gardiner High School in 1961. He then enlisted into the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Texas. He was an AB-El at the time of discharge. Warren was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, and cherished the time spent with “Rinny,” his German Shepherd. Ladd worked for Harriman and Black grocery store in Gardiner for many years. He also spent many years at Etonic Shoe located in Richmond, Maine. He always had a great sense of humor along with many smart remarks that would light up a room and make everyone laugh. Warren attended Beano several nights a week, all the horse races at the local fairs, and was a big part of the Lion’s Club along with the American Legion, both out of Gardiner. In addition to his mother and father, Warren was predeceased by his sister, Carol Ann Ladd, and grandson, Terrance (TJ) Ladd. He is survived by his children; Maria Ladd of Pacific Grove, California, Scott Ladd of Pittsfield, Terrance (Tad) Ladd of Lewiston, Penny (Ladd) Marsilio, and partner Shaun Le of Westbrook. His siblings; Dennis Ladd and wife Cheryl of Farmingdale, David Ladd and wife Jean of Gardiner, Rick Ladd and wife Lisa of Raymond, and Heidi Whitley of West Gardiner. Grandchildren; Joey Barefoot, Brianna Ladd, Ciara Marsilio, and Cyrus Le. Along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. A graveside service will be held at noontime, on Friday, September 3, at the Maine Veterans Cemetery 163 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Augusta, Maine. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
