Alice Faye (Moore) Barter

WINTHROP – Alice Faye (Moore) Barter, the daughter of the late Sterling and Valeda (Boullette) Moore. We are saddened to announce that our mom lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday morning August 27, 2021. Mom was born July 28, 1948 in Skowhegan and attended Skowhegan/Madison schools.

Mom worked hard her entire life starting with Farmington Shoe and later, worked for over 30 years at Carlton Woolen Mills until they closed. She also worked at the Paddock, and most recently, the Augusta Civic Center.

Mom will be remembered for her unparalleled sense of humor and gift for telling stories and her love of the simple things in life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, reading, playing computer games, and spending time up to camp with her “adopted family” and just plain talking.

Mom was also predeceased by her brother, John and other brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Chris Barter and Eric Barter, and his wife Josee, and her daughter, Maria Barter; her grandchildren, Megan Merchison, Ashley Hewett, Dyllan Barter, Zachary Barter, Dakoda Bellavance, Jerod Barter, Trevor Barter and Breana Barter; her great-grandchildren, Brady, Tatum, Chloe and baby Bennett. She is also survived by a special cousin, Dana Pollis and his wife Jackie; a special niece Maggie Moore, and nephew John Moore.

Per mom’s wishes, there will be no viewing or visiting hours. A celebration of her life will be held Sept. 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert’s Funeral Home in Winthrop. A private burial will be done at a later date.

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center for the caring treatment our mom received.
