Norbert Frederic Poulliot
FAIRFIELD – Norbert “Nobby” Poulliot, 85, died Monday, August 23, 2021, at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Winslow, July 2, 1936, the eldest son of Frederic and Eleanor (Esancy) Poulliot.
Norbert was a graduate of Winslow High School, class of 1955. He had many fond memories of his time at Winslow High School, having served as school governor, captain of the varsity football team, member of the varsity baseball team and how fittingly, as the role of Father in the senior play, Father Knows Best. Norb made countless, lifelong friendships wherever he went.
On Sept. 15, 1962, Nobby married Judith “Judy” Elaine Fagan. They enjoyed 43 wonderful years together, having traveled to many places with family and friends.
First and foremost, Nobby was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, Pa and friend.
In earlier years, Norbert was employed by Lee Brothers, the Town of Winslow, Bridge Construction and Wirthmore Feeds, Inc. He also hauled logs and gravel. Nobby retired from Keyes Fibre/The Chinet Company in 1998 after 32 years of dedicated service. In retirement, he continued to work on his inventions and in the woods with his brothers, sawing lumber and making grade stakes at his sawmill. Nob was a hardworking man!
Norbert was a parishioner of St. Bridget Parish and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. For years, he attended mass weekly at Mt. St. Joseph with his sister-in-law, Patty, and family.
Nobby was a good man. He loved his guitar, pipe and cigars, a full saltshaker and anything sweet. He enjoyed a well-played game of cribbage or solitaire, and he was always up for a lively political discussion! Nob was a loyal New England Patriots fan, and his Super Bowl lobster parties became an annual tradition. He was a terrific Pa, ever-present at his grandchildren’s sporting and school events and begrudgingly never missing one of his granddaughters’, daughter’s or sister’s recitals.
His mother, father and grandparents predeceased him. In addition, Nobby was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judy; sisters-in-law Patricia L. Fagan and Sylvia Poulliot and his brother-in-law, Larry Bouchard.
Norbert is survived by his two children, Jodi Leclair and her husband, Kenneth, of Fairfield, and their children, Katherine Jean and Joseph Jude; Jeffrey Poulliot, of Belgrade, and his children Andrew Joseph, Nicholas Norbert and Jocelyn Judith; brothers Milton Poulliot, Ronald Poulliot and wife, Sandra, and sister, Sherril Bouchard; his brothers-in-law Robert Fagan and wife, Rosalie, of Unity and David Fagan and wife, Pat, of South Weymouth, Mass.; 11 nieces and nephews; along with many other close family members and friends.
We will love and miss Nobby every day but are so grateful for his life, love and example. “You are our sunshine.”
Family and friends are welcome to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield.
