United Way of the Tri-Valley Area plans to offer Cornhole for a Cause at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18.
The event is to be held at the newly-established Ayuh Cidah at 272 Morrison Hill Road in Farmington. Ayuh Cidah, a farm started in 1860, is a venue for people to enjoy tasting many varieties of hard cider.
This will be a double elimination cornhole tournament. Registration is $20 per team and can be done at uwtva.org. The winner will receive a cash prize.
A Double the Distance challenge also will be available onsite. Contestants who feel they can “throw the distance” can sign up at the event. For an additional fee, contestants get three bags to try to sink one from 54 feet. If more than one person manages to do that, those who did will advance to a second round see if they can do so again.
The event is made possible by platinum sponsors Ayuh Cidah and Blue Sky, and gold sponsor United Insurance/Shiretown Agency. In-kind sponsors include Ayuh Cidah for the use of its venue, and United Insurance for the prize.
For more information about the event, visit uwtva.org or United Way on Facebook, or call 207-778-5048.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
