LEEDS — The Maine Warden Service is investigating a report of a woman shot by a turkey hunter in a forested area near the end of Walton’s Way around 3 p.m. Monday, Communications Director Mark Latti said.
The hunter called 911 and gave aid to the woman until emergency personnel arrived and took her to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Latti wrote in a news release. She was listed in stable condition, he said.
Multiple game wardens responded to investigate the incident, including the Warden Service evidence response team and members of the Warden Service K-9 Team.
The Warden Service is being assisted in the investigation by the Maine State Police and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s office.
