WEST GARDINER – Albert L. Hinckley Jr., known to many as Junior, 80, died Oct. 5, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Gardiner on March 24, 1941, son of the late A. Lucius Hinckley and Gertrude Harriman Sutter, stepson to the late Robert Sutter.He lived in Maine most of his life. He served in the Army during the Korean War. A truck driver, mechanic and man of many trades. If you came looking for Junior, he would be at the kitchen table drinking his coffee, burning up a cigarette, watching tv while checking his lottery tickets. When you sat down with him, you knew you were in for a great story or two. He had a huge heart and love for everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Sharon E. Hinckley; his two brothers, Chester Hinckley and Calvin Sutter; three daughters, Dawn Hinckley, Stacy Hinckley and Jennifer Parent; five step children accepted as his own, Priscilla Sirois, Teresa Henderson, Duane Sirois, Daniel Sirois and Carolyn Sucitu; eight grand children, TJ, Julian, Jasmine, Johnathan, Sharon-Bethany, AJ, Abby, and Miles; many nieces and nephews including Robert and Christopher Hinckley, with whom he shared a special bond. He was predeceased by his beloved dogs, Isaac (the first) and Snoop Dog II. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Mon, Oct. 11, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12. A reception will follow. Burial will be 12 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21 at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine with military honors.
