Though no longer a resident of Augusta, I still work in the capital city and will always consider Augusta home. That’s why I hope you will support Mark O’Brien as the next mayor of this wonderful city.
Mark’s resume of service to this community is unparalleled: city councilor for five terms (including a stint as interim mayor); school board member for six terms (including a number of years as chair); City Charter Commission chair; 11 years as a board member for the Augusta Food Bank; current president of CARA; and longtime Augusta Little League baseball and Augusta Recreation football coach. And I’m sure there’s more.
For someone who has given back so much, what impresses me even more about Mark are the personal qualities that help define him: humble, thoughtful, dedicated, and selfless. Civility, decency, and class are all traits embodied by Mark, and with the recent departures of a number of long-term city staff members, Mark’s experience and commitment to Augusta are needed now more than ever.
I regret that I will be unable to cast a vote for Mark O’Brien, but hope that you will. He’ll be a great mayor for Augusta.
