River Arts of Damariscotta plans to present “Photo Show,” juried by photographer Rose Marasco, which focuses solely on the art of photography.
Marasco chose works from 55 photographers for this exhibition. The opening reception for the show is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the 36 Elm St. gallery, and is open to the public.
The exhibition includes images that are fanciful, forceful, intimate and spiritual. There are works full of texture and works full of light. Landscapes, wildlife, portraits, figurative works, still lifes, and abstracts fill the gallery walls.
The “Photo Show” runs from Oct. 19 through Nov. 20.
Open hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Masks are required in the gallery.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
