Joan Ellen Esman

LEWISTON – Joan Ellen Esman, 86, a former resident of Monmouth, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 at Central Maine Medical in Lewiston. She was born on Dec. 20, 1934 in South Monmouth, the daughter of Frasher Hawkins and Frances (Fowler) Hawkins.

She attended school in Monmouth. On Jan. 10, 1953 in Auburn, she married Arthur B. Esman. They shared 65 wonderful years together raising their five children; he passed away on Jan. 9, 2018.

Joan enjoyed riding and driving with her husband on some of his cross-country trips in his trailer truck. Joan loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Leiarna Mae Esman Parkin of Wales, Peggy Sue Esman Savage of Monmouth, Wendy Jean Esman Deschenes of Auburn, two sons, Arthur “Joey” Bernard Esman Jr. of Litchfield and Glendon “Glen” Richard Esman of Monmouth; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Arthur B Esman; and a great-grandson, Camden Scott Emmons.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine. Visiting hours will be 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date.
