Linda Rae Thomas

MADISON – Linda Rae Thomas, 68, of Madison went to her heavenly home on Oct. 13, 2021. She was born April 28, 1953 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Elwin and Norma McKenney.

She attended grade school and graduated from Madison High School in 1971. She was a stay at home mom when her children were little and then worked for the most amazing employer who treated her like family Merle L. Lloyd and Sons in Anson starting in 1989 where she shared her desk with her little Pomeranian Phoebe retiring on her 68th birthday. She married Richard “Ricky” Cates in 1972 and had two amazing children Jamie and Brandon. After Ricky passed away in 2001 Linda met her future love of her life Aaron J Thomas and they married on May 29, 2002.

Linda had a love for life. Her animals, family and friends were her world. She had a love for camping and going to the races in Wiscasset every weekend to follow her favorite race teams.

She is survived by her husband Aaron J Thomas; her daughter Jamie Cates Winn and partner Nick Pelotte, her son Brandon Cates and wife Amy; her stepchildren Amanda Thomas and children, Jessica Carver and children and Kimberly Bean and husband Jeremy; her sisters Cheryl McKenney and Jan Paine and husband Jeff, her brother Richard Bassett and wife Beverly; her very special first mother-in-law Ruth Cates Hardy; brothers-in-law John Cates, Larry Cates, sisters-in-law Pam Atwood and Judy Smith; her special second in- laws Stuart Thomas and Marlene Barnes and brotherd-in-law Greg and Ed and sisters-in-law Lisa and Jodie and all their spouses; as well as her grandchildren who were the light of her life Zachary Cates, Mitchell Cates, Richard “Ricky” Winn, Ella Winn and Carley Winn; many special nieces and nephews as well as many very treasured friends.

Linda is predeceased by Richard “Ricky” Cates, her parents Elwin and Norma McKenney and her many animals.

The family would like to thank the staff at Redington Fairview, Life Flight and Eastern Maine Medical Center for their outstanding care they gave Linda. They never gave up on her and fought for her even in the last minutes. As well as the outstanding love and support from Linda’s extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday Oct. 23, 2021 from 11 am – 2 pm at the Calvary Pentecostal Church at 160 Old Point Ave Madison Maine. Food and refreshments will be provided. Please come with some memories of Linda to share with everyone.
