
Lorraine Lydia Nunn
SKOWHEGAN – Lorraine Lydia Nunn, 83, left us to join her beloved “Don” in heaven on Oct. 13, 2021 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. She was born on July 4, 1938. She grew up in Skowhegan and graduated in 1956.
She was working in the drugstore soda fountain when a young Airforce Airman walked in for a milkshake, from that day forward they were never apart. She married Don, the man of her dreams, on January 19, 1957.
She worked in the Skowhegan High School Cafeteria kitchen for several years while also working at the job that made her famous, “The Fair Lady”. She worked as the secretary of the Skowhegan State Fair for 45 years. She loved her job until her retirement in 2006 and always found a way to work fair week.
Lorraine was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, The American Legion Post 16 Auxiliary and volunteered for many years at the local hospital. She enjoyed camping with the Kennebec River Rovers and The Good Sam Club. She made many lifelong friends over the years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting. Her family would look forward to the annual Christmas box of homemade items. She also enjoyed Bingo and other games with friends and family.
Lorraine was a big supporter of Skowhegan sports and her Boston Red Sox. She was always seeking ways to support her family and friends. She was always there for a ride to school, pick up from practice or attend a school event. What she cherished most was spending time with family. Lorraine was a kind soul with unconditional love for everyone. She was very special and her sweet smile made an impression on so many lives. Lorraine will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Nunn and wife Linda of Skowhegan, Tim Nunn and wife Louise of Auburn; grandchildren Alicia Nunn of Skowhegan, Brent Nunn and wife Rachelle of Skowhegan, Nathan Nunn of Skowhegan, Christopher Nunn and wife Tonya of Lewiston, Emily Nunn and Fiancé Ryan Arnold of Windham; great-grandchildren Drayke Belanger, Dawson and Koryn Fletcher, and Landon and Lauren Nunn. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Raymond “Don” Nunn; her parents; and sister Patricia Beaulieu.
A mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 am at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Skowhegan immediately followed by burial at the Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends as invited to a reception at the American Legion Post 16 Hall on the Waterville Road in Skowhegan immediately following the burial.
