
Carol Ann Sanborn
AUGUSTA- Carol Ann Sanborn of Augusta passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2021. She was born on Dec. 20, 1954, the daughter of Barbara W. Sanborn and Richard B. Sanborn.Carol was an Augusta native and attended the array of historic schools on the east side of the Kennebec: Hussey, Williams, Hodgkins, and, of course, the Old Cony High School. She worked in Augusta following graduation, married and had three children Andrea, Stephen, and Eric.In the latter years of her life she moved to Fayette, where she lived with (predeceased) loving partner Tim Lewia and it was there she raised her family. Following Tim’s death in 2017, Carol moved to Glenridge Long term Care (coincidentally within eyesight of the former “Maine Insane Asylum” where her great-grandfather Dr. Bigelow Sanborn was the Superintendent from 1863 – 1910.Carol was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by many, who will miss her dearly: brothers Jeff (Maureen) of Dover, N.H., and Steve (Carol) of Dresden; her children Andrea Peabody Veilleux (Dylan) of Augusta, Stephen Peabody of Fairfield, and Eric Peabody of Augusta; and six grandchildren, Emily, Alexia, Aarabella, Brayden, Stephen, and Lillian.There will be a memorial at a later date and her ashes will be spread (as she wished) into the Atlantic, not far from a childhood summer residence.Arrangements are in the care of the Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta where condolences may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at http://www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com
