Barbara Jean Dudley

SIDNEY – Barbara Jean Dudley, 70, of Sidney, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

She was born in Plymouth, N.H. on Sept. 26, 1951, the daughter of Bernard and Phoebe (Carmen) Hinds.

She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1969, where she played basketball and worked as an accountant after school. Shortly after graduation, she got married and moved to Sidney with her husband where they raised their family together.

She volunteered at her children’s school and worked part-time as an administrative assistant at various places in Augusta. For many years she provided childcare for several families and was blessed with four grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed raising children taking them swimming, on nature walks and doing crafts together.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and time spent with family, whether at camp, on an outing or at home. Her tireless caretaking will be missed by all.

She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Patricia.

Barbara is survived by her husband, James Dudley, of Sidney; their children Christy Lajoie (James) of Dayton and Eric Dudley (Sarah) of Gorham; grandchildren Alyssa and Ian Lajoie and Aidan and Grace Dudley. She is also leaving behind her siblings Elizabeth, Jeffrey and Douglas; as well as several cousins; nieces and nephews; in-laws; and friends.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Cottle Cemetery in Augusta.
