
John L. York
NORRIDGEWOCK – John L. York passed away with his wife and family by his side on Oct. 25, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Jackman Feb. 16, 1961, the son of Colby York and Helena Jandreau.
He was predeceased by parents; and grandparents Leon and Phyillis Jandreau and Walter and Leona York.
John is survived by his wife and soul mate of 35 years, Debra York; his children Amy Bertone and husband Jason, Aaron Dionne, Todd Ward and wife Jessica; cousin, Leanne Jandreau; niece, Emma Perkins; aunt, Elayne Fitzpatrick and husband Joseph; grandchildren Dawson, Kaylee and fiancé Joey Godin, Mackenzie, Deyonce, Alivia, Jonathan, Quinten and Aura.
Throughout his life, John liked to build things, houses, bridges, hospitals, etc. He had a brilliant mind, a giant heart and always an opinion on the “right” way to do things. After graduating Upper Kennebec Valley High School in 1979, he held numerous trade jobs. He was self-employed as a carpenter for several years and then completed the electrical union apprenticeship program, was a member of IBEW Local 1253 and employed by Atwood Electric and E.S. Boulos as an electrician.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave. in Skowhegan.
