
Paul Nelson
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Paul Nelson passed away Oct. 27, 2021. He was born March 19, 1939, in Skowhegan to Samuel Theodore Nelson and Margaret Burnham Woodbury.
Paul married Carrolin Green Nelson August 6, 1960. He worked for 30 years with Maine School District 54 in Skowhegan until his retirement in 2001.
Paul and Carrolin moved to Bronson, Fla. to retire and to be closer to their two children, grandsons, and great-grandson.
Paul graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1958 where he played football. He enjoyed spending time with his family most of all but also liked fishing, roller skating, woodworking, and following their favorite band around Maine, The Country Comfort Band.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Trudy (Peanut) Smith of Madison, Flossie (Bucky) Dunlap of Saint Petersburg, Fla., and brother, Sam (Ann) Nelson, of Skowhegan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carrolin Green Nelson; their two children Keith (Espie) Nelson of Ocala, Fla., Cheryl (James) Melcolm of Gainesville, Fla.; their grandsons Justin Nelson of Gainesville, Fla., and Derek (Whitney) Melcolm of Bronson, Fla.; one great-grandson, Brendan Melcolm; and several nieces and nephews.
