Verna (Pare) Rancourt

AUGUSTA – Verna (Paré) Rancourt, 74, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn following a brave battle with AML. She was born in Augusta on July 3, 1947, the daughter of the late J. Arthur and Lucienne M. (Cyr) Paré.

Verna was a graduate of Cony High School and attended Gates Business College.

On April 12, 1969, Verna married the love of her life, Gerald R. Rancourt. After her faith, family was the most important thing in Verna’s life. Together, Jerry and Verna raised a loving family filled with laughter, games and a lot of great meals. No one ever went hungry at “Memere’s”. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and nothing made her happier than to tout their accomplishments to friends and family.

Verna enjoyed spending time with many special friends. You know who you are! She enjoyed eating out, visits to the beach, shopping and gathering together to share stories and meals.

She had been employed by Dr. Bradford Smith for over 30 years. She also worked at the Calumet Club, St. Augustine Parish, Frank Pomerleau’s, The Melody Shop and Flavo-Rama.

Verna was a member of the Calumet Club and a member of The Daughters of Isabella. She had also been a hospice volunteer and a catechist at St. Michael Parish.

She was predeceased by her husband.

Verna is survived by her son, Jeffrey Rancourt and his wife Tina of Augusta, two daughters, Katherine Boucher and her husband Raymond and Kendra Dulac and her husband Norman all of Augusta; her sister, Geraldine Paré of Augusta, three brothers, Kenneth Paré of Ft. Morgan, Colo., Paul Paré of Marlboro, Mass. and Peter Paré of Augusta; seven grandchildren, Kristen Anand and her husband Ashwin, Chantel Boucher and her husband Duke Young, Brianne Boucher and her husband Ben Danner, Olivia Rancourt, Madelyn Rancourt, Andrew Rancourt, and Joseph Dulac; three great-grandchildren, Clara and Sophie Anand and Dylan Young; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kim and the nurses and staff at the Alfond Cancer Center for the wonderful care they gave Verna over the past two years.

At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Road, Augusta.
